Consider a Moment
Consider A Moment, acrylic, oil and paper on board, 54 x 441/2”, 2014, available
This is set in a nameless city. It could be anywhere, as suggested by the various flags. People rush to and fro. However, if you look closely, you will see some people repeated, at first rushing like the others, then having their attention caught, then taking, or about to take, a moment to enjoy. I have included people of different ages and ethnicities to indicate the universality of this phenomenon.
The background mountains represent the beauty of the world, which we regularly ignore. Above all, a Pop styled Einstein, in an abstraction of the space/time continuum, reminds us of the ephemeral quality of time, and to appreciate moments of beauty as we have them.

All the people in this painting are preoccupied, their focus inward. There is only one exception. Perhaps it is us she notices. This is about the need to stop and enjoy the small moments of life.
